HEADING TO REGIONAL PARTNER IN ITALY

After the invitational letter of Palilula Municipality president PhD Igor Novakovic, the Municipality was visited by the delegation of Italian Embassy in Belgrade. The theme of the meeting was possible realization of international cooperation programme of local governmental organs EUROPEAN TWINNING.  About the possibilities of twinning and cooperation of Palilula with the similar profile municipalities in Italy the president Novakovic and Palilula Assembly Djurdjevic spoke with Andrea Arnaldo, councilor in the Italian Embassy, Tiziana Pizikeria, attaché of this embassy and Virginia Loukadelo, associate. The representatives of the City of Nis, Miomir Radovanovic, chief of the Office for international cooperation in the spheres of science, education and culture and Milan Jovanovic, associate at this Office were also present at the meeting.

`After this meeting our task is to present Palilula Municipality to certain cities and municipalities in our country for which we think that are appropriate for this Municipality. Here, before all, we have in mind those in northern parts of the country since they are quite active in the cooperation with Serbia and Italian Embassy in Belgrade. Here we have to add that Milan as the second largest in Italy and Turin for which we estimated that has good balance between rural and urban parts like Palilula does. We hope to return very soon to Nis with some good news about possible candidates for twinning i.e. with information of finding a partner to Palilula in Italy`.

According to the words of Palilula Municipal president, Mr. Novakovic, the meeting with the Italian representatives is the idea and wish of the Embassy to find strong and responsible strategic partners. Twinning with particular municipality is the highest level of the local community cooperation on international level that is why we want to continue our international cooperation apart from Bulgaria also with Italy together with twinning agreement.  In this way we will also provide the continuance with economical cooperation and our wish is that with a municipality that has its own similar objectives like Palilula to compete later for the European funds- emphasized Novakovic and added: As a Municipality that is heading to Europe we must not stop and rely on regional partners, therefore we want to find the twinning municipality in EU and prepare ourselves for future in this way.
